Auditions

River runnng through rocky canyon

The Department of Theater and Dance invites all students to audition on October 27, 2024 for our spring 2025 department production, Men on Boats by Jaclyn Backhaus; a wild, comic expedition that follows the “first” group of people to navigate the Grand Canyon via the Colorado River. This ensemble piece offers a destabilizing look at history, gender, colonialism, and the legacies of the American West. Directed by Dr. Jessica Pearson-Bleyer, the show will run February 27-March 1, 2025.

Auditions will be held on Sunday, October 27 in Memorial Hall, room 601, with 5-minute time slots from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Register for a slot via Campus Groups.

Callbacks will be on Monday, October 28, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Students will be called for the whole time.

Per the instructions of the playwright, we will be casting ten actors who are "female-identifying, trans-identifying, genderfluid, and/or gender-non-conforming."

Anyone who is not in-residence this semester but would still like to audition should contact Dr. Pearson-Bleyer directly via email (j.pearson@dan48.com) to set up a time to do a Zoom audition.

For the initial audition, students should fill out the audition form and prepare one of the short monologues (both items are available in the Campus Groups audition listingfrom the play, which need not, necessarily, be memorized. During callbacks we'll be doing cold reads and ensemble work. Contact Dr. Pearson-Bleyer at j.pearson@dan48.com with any questions.  We hope to see you there!
